Toyota Yaris and Prius hybrid +: New Hybrid Models in Geneva 2011

Toyota will introduce two new hybrid models. World Premiere has envisioned the Yaris hybrid, while the seven-seat compact MPV Prius + only has its European premiere.

After the Auris will apparently come one step smaller Yaris next hybrid model on the market. The Yaris HSD concept brings the hybrid drive in the small car segment, the highest-volume market segment in Europe. Honda had recently introduced the Jazz hybrid is also a small car with hybrid drive. The Honda CR-Z is indeed a coupe, but at least one of its dimensions also manufacture in the small car class.

The Prius + is a seven-seater and, like the father of a full hybrid. Thus, it could be a seven-seater version of the act in January 2011 v on the auto show in Detroit shown Prius. The Prius +, will provide much more space for passengers than the Prius and consumption of all seven-seater to undercut the market. This is the record currently at 4.6 liters per 100 kilometers (VW Touran 1.6 TDI BlueMotion Technology).

Tokyo Auto Salon 2011: TES Concept T-Sports, sports bag

TES means Toyota Engineering Society is an association created in 1947 within Toyota that meets employees wishing to enhance the skills and talents of its members while promoting camaraderie within the company. This particular association has launched an internal investigation in 2010 to find out what type of cars his members would like to see happen. The answer was mainly: a sports affordable.

But rather than be satisfied with the future FT-86 which also corresponds to this universal assumption, members of the TES have imagined and built the T-Sport, Baby kind of FT-86. "equipped with a 1.3 liter 4-cylinder 110 hp, weighs less than a ton, this measure T-Sports 3.81 m long and 1.65 m wide or larger dimensions than a Daihatsu Copen who seems to have served basis. This recreation of engineer is not intended to be produced, at least not officially.

Yet, nobody should complain to find what kind of car catalog of a manufacturer like Toyota ...

Toyota Auris HSD or Hybrid Synergy Drive

Toyota Auris HSD or Hybrid Synergy DriveToyota Auris 2010 HSD, or Hybrid Synergy Drive, will officially go on sale in Europe later this spring. The car uses a 1.8-liter petrol engine and electric motor to provide nearly 62 mpg (US), consuming 3.8 liters of petrol per 100 km.

Featured in the car is a four-cylinder 1.8-liter VVT-i petrol engine producing 98 PS (72 kW) and up to 142 Nm (105 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is coupled with a 60 kW electric motor kicking out up to 207 Nm (153 lb-ft) torque. Surprisingly, maximum combined output is kept at 136 PS (100 kW), which seems low considering the strength of the motor.

Still, the hybrid's direct emissions is reduced to about 89 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The car is kept more efficient by a 0.283 drag coefficient, down from 0.290 on the other Auris models. This is due to aerodynamic changes seen only on the HSD, including longer bumpers, and a better designed grille that improves air flow over the top and reduces resistance underneath. Different lamps can also be seen.

Toyota Auris HSD or Hybrid Synergy DriveThe setup lets the car run on all-electric for up to two kilometers, and at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). Regenerative braking is also a part of the package. The car features four driving modes, like EV, Eco, and Power. The fourth was not mentioned.

The Auris HSD is available in three different trim levels, with the base level including 15-inch V-design alloys, stability control, push-button start, hill assist, and a rear spoiler. One level up adds 17-inch rims, six-speaker CD radio, and Bluetooth. The last step up adds on Alcantara trim. Several options are also on offer.

Detroit Auto Show 2011: Toyota Prius V hybrid minivan

It was no secret but the images have been well kept for not discovering the novelty soon. Except for several official teasers, minivan version of the Prius has been able to protect against leaks and now I teach kids in Detroit Toyota proudly.

I overtook a few days ago that his name might be "V" and the truth is that we are not wrong, except for one thing: but the name is the name. Like or dislike the nickname, the fact is that the Prius family grows up with an interesting option that can most versatile and most suitable for families with children younger than liftback sold so far.

Prius - Sheep Comparison - Toyota Prius is less harmful than a pet sheep?

One can imagine right now to validate this ad explains that the emissions of a Toyota Prius are smaller than those of a sheep ..., advertising our friends went to measure the escape of the animal chosen real values of toxic gas emitted. A trade definitely exciting to discover the opening to the worlds, but certainly quite dark in some depth.

Toyota Prius

Toyota PriusThere are two different schools of thought regarding the Toyota Prius hybrid. Some see it as the future of transportation a roomy family car that uses about half the fuel of a typical mid-size sedan. Other see it as the anti-car, a joyless, soulless form of transportation completely lacking in the character which car fanatics love so much. Personally, I can see both side of the argument and apparently so can Toyota, because they've attempted to imbue the all new Prius with something the old car lacked: Personality. Has it worked?

2010 Toyota FT-EV Electric Cute Car

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 1Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it will display the Toyota FT-EV concept on opening Media Day at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), confirming its plan to launch an urban commuter battery-electric vehicle (BEV) by 2012. This announcement, coupled with its compressed natural gas powered Camry Hybrid concept display at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, signal Toyota’s intention to broaden the scope of its advanced alternative-fuel vehicle development.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 2“Now, more than ever, while we are so focused on the pressing issues of the moment, we cannot lose sight of our future,” said Irv Miller, TMS Group Vice President, Environmental and Public Affairs. “Nowhere is this more important than with our industry’s duty and commitment to provide true sustainable mobility with vehicles that significantly reduce fuel consumption, our carbon footprint and overall greenhouse gases.” The FT-EV concept shares its platform with the revolutionary-new iQ urban commuter vehicle. Already a huge hit in Japan, the iQ is lightweight and seats four passengers in comfort and security, while delivering exceptional mileage, sporty performance, unique refinements and a fun, youthful image.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 3Toyota’s FT-EV concept imagines an urban dweller, driving up to 50 miles between home, work and other forms of public transportation, such as high-speed rail. Although, for now, the FT-EV remains a pure concept, it represents a natural pairing of product strategies.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 4“Last summer’s four-dollar-a-gallon gasoline was no anomaly. It was a brief glimpse of our future,” said Miller. “We must address the inevitability of peak oil by developing vehicles powered by alternatives to liquid-oil fuel, as well as new concepts, like the iQ, that are lighter in weight and smaller in size. This kind of vehicle, electrified or not, is where our industry must focus its creativity.” Although BEVs and new smaller vehicles like the iQ will be a key component of Toyota’s sustainable mobility strategy, the conventional gas-electric hybrid, like the all new third-generation Prius, is considered Toyota’s long-term core powertrain technology.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 5Last year, Toyota announced that it planned to sell one million gas-electric hybrids per year sometime during the early 2010s. To accomplish this, Toyota will launch as many as 10 new hybrid models by the early 2010s, in various global markets. The new third-generation Toyota Prius and all new Lexus HS250h, both debuting in Detroit, are the first two examples of that effort. Also, last year, Toyota announced that it would roll-out a large number of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs) to global lease-fleet customers in 2010. That schedule has been moved up.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 6Beginning in late 2009, Toyota will start global delivery of 500 Prius PHVs powered by lithium-ion batteries. Of these initial vehicles, 150 will be placed with U.S. lease-fleet customers. The first-generation lithium-ion batteries powering these PHVs will be built on an assembly line at Toyota’s PEVE (Panasonic EV Energy Company, LTD) battery plant, a joint-venture production facility in which Toyota owns 60 percent equity. During its development, the new Prius was designed and engineered to package either the lithium-ion battery pack with plug-in capability, or the nickel-metal hydride battery for the conventional gas-electric system. The 500 PHVs arriving globally in late 2009 will be used for market and engineering analysis. Lease–fleet customers will monitor the performance and durability of the first-generation lithium-ion battery, while offering real world feedback on how future customers might respond to the plug-in process. “Future customers will have high expectations for these emerging technologies. This Prius PHV fleet program is a key first step in confirming how and when we might bring large numbers of plug-in hybrids to global markets,” said Miller. “Our business is no longer about simply building and selling cars and trucks. It is about finding solutions to mobility challenges today and being prepared for more daunting challenges in our very near future.”
